 ts. Therefore, we have to ensure that students have a particular background
  and context knowledge in information retrieval and/or information foraging
 . We ask you kindly to describe your motivation and background in a short p
 aragraph. The deadline to send this application is 15 August 2023. We will 
 check every application and give feedback by 18 August 2023, but we reserve
  the right to decline applications due to overbooking or a lack of topical

 ction\n\nThe Autumn School for Information Retrieval and Information Foragi
 ng (ASIRF) focuses on recent developments in Information Retrieval and Info
 rmation-Seeking behavior and their applications. Information Retrieval deal
 s with searching in huge amounts of unstructured data. In many professional
  fields of work and everyday life, access to text data via search engines i
 s one of the most important forms of access to knowledge. Information Forag
 ing aims to model the entire process from the awareness of an information p
 roblem through selecting appropriate information sources to the actual sear
 ch.\n\nASIRF provides a holistic perspective of the two fields and shows ho
 w Information Retrieval and Information Foraging interact. In addition to c
 onceptual and methodological knowledge from both fields, ASIRF is highly in
 terdisciplinary. The autumn school will provide eight tutorials, from found
 ations of Information Retrieval and Information Foraging to recent research
  topics such as rich language models like BERT or applications of IR techni
 ques in foreign domains like Digital Humanities.\n\nStudents and lecturers 
 will live together for a week at Schloss Dagstuhl, which guarantees the sch
 ool's traditionally highly communicative and interactive atmosphere. The in
 tended audience of ASIRF are doctoral students and young researchers workin
 g in Information Retrieval, Information Foraging, or using concepts or meth
