SUMMARY:LWDA 2024 - Workshop IR
DESCRIPTION:The workshop Information Retrieval 2024 of the Special Interest
Group on Information Retrieval within the German Gesellschaft für Informat
ik (GI) provides a forum for scientific discussion and the exchange of idea
 s. It takes place in the context of the LWDA „Learning, Knowledge, Data, An
alysis“ conference from 23-25 September 2024 at the University of Würzburg,
Germany. This workshop continues a successful series of workshops of the G
I Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval (http://fg-retrieval.gi.d
e/). Publications are available in Open Access (https://dblp.org/db/conf/lw
a/index.html). \n\nThe German AI conference will take place in the same wee
k also at the University of Würzburg.\n\nTopics of interest\n\nSubmissions
should address current issues in any area of Information Retrieval. We invi
te submissions, both from industry and academia, describing:\n\n Original
research contributions Ongoing and recently finished research at the gradu
ate level (M.Sc./Ph.D.) Running research projects or project proposals Re
sources (e.g., novel testbeds or software tools) Negative results (includi
ng a careful failure analysis) Visions, ideas, and positions Resubmission
of papers recently published at other renowned conferences no earlier than
2022 \n\nModels of Submissions\n\nSubmissions made to the LWDA FGIR track
may choose one of the following models:\n\nFull papers (up to 12 pages + re
ferences) for normal research contributions that require longer explanation
s and discussions; usually feature some form of evaluation and/or broad con
sideration of related work\n\nShort papers (up to 6 pages + references) for
minor contributions, rather engineering-oriented projects, incomplete proj
ects, less mature research ideas, positional papers, interesting project su
mmaries, software pitches and/or negative observations.\n\nAbstracts (up to
2 pages) for short communications and for resubmissions of successful rese
arch recently published in a full paper at a major conference or in a journ
al\n\nImportant Dates\n\nThe submission deadline has been extended to July
 14, 2024!\n\n Submission deadline: July 01, 2024 extended to July 14, 2024

\n\nSubmissions Guidelines\n\nSubmissions are welcome in English and Germa
 n. All papers have to be formatted according to the CEUR-WS formatting guid
elines. You can also download an offline version with the style files from
http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/CEURART.zip. It also contains DOCX template file
 s. Papers are to be submitted as PDF files to EasyChair. Please select the
track "FGIR".\n\nAll submissions will be reviewed by at least two independe
nt reviewers. All authors of accepted submissions will be invited to the wo
rkshop to present their work. Accepted research and in-practice papers (ful
l papers and short papers) will also be included in the proceedings that ar
e published at http://ceur-ws.org/ and indexed within DBLP.\n\nAll workshop
participants have to register for the LWDA 2024 conference. We would like
to make the workshop a lively discussion forum and we will therefore ask au
thors and reviewers to outline the main questions to be discussed before th
e actual workshop.\n\nIntended Audience\n\nThe target group includes resear
chers and practitioners who are interested in developing, applying and anal
yzing information retrieval systems as well as application scenarios. The I
R workshop is in particular a great and affordable platform for young resea
rchers to present their work to a larger group of researchers and get valua
ble feedback. Doctorate and Master’s students are especially encouraged to
participate and discuss their ideas with world-renowned experts. Apart from
research papers, we invite you to submit in-practice papers that focus on
presenting ongoing projects and applied research.\n\nWorkshop organization\
